For Het Surinaamsch Rumhuis, we are looking for an Operations & Events Manager who will be responsible for successfully managing the Rumhuis as a tour, event, venue hire, hospitality, and food & beverage organisation.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Leads the Surinaamsch Rumhuis team.
  • Formulates and ensures effective and efficient execution of the marketing and sales policy of the Rumhuis in terms of vision, mission, strategy, operationalisation, and profitability.
  • Develops and effectively and efficiently executes short- and long-term plans and resulting projects and programmes.
  • Identifies customer and market needs from direct customer contact to provide input for Rumhuis strategies.
  • Develops an attractive events calendar and executes it.
  • Optimises our hospitality activities and strengthens our position as market leader in rum.
  • Carries out promotion and marketing activities for the Rumhuis in collaboration with the Marketing department.
  • Collects and analyses sales and market information including competitor analysis and converts it into management and steering information.
  • Ensures an effective and efficient customer response system.
  • Maintains close contact with the market including tour operators, event planners, training institutes, and companies.
  • Monitors and safeguards the budget and financial administration.
  • Contributes to operational policy in their field.

The ideal candidate:

  • HBO level in Marketing, Logistics, Business Administration, or Economics.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Knowledge of purchasing goods and services and negotiating with suppliers.
  • Experience with MS Office (especially Word and Excel; Navision is a plus).
